The Model of Creativity

If you have visited Poofff before no doubt you have seen mention of our primary creative contributor, LindaLee. She is the person responsible for all visual aspects of the Skells universe and much more. If you’re not yet familiar with the Skells, take a look at some of the video slideshows she has put together (with musical accompaniment by 69-1skell-w-2headsIMG_2639_1024Skell-E-Tunes).

Meanwhile, I wanted to provide some in-depth background to let you get to know LindaLee. I thought I would take some time and give you a bit of the artist’s bio, if you will.

Early Life:

LindaLee was born in Hong Kong to Chinese parents which, at the time, actually made her a British citizen. Then at the age of 4 she and her family fled a hostile China to immigrate to the United States. Being the granddaughter of a Chinese general that fought against the communists did not promise a life of comfort. After becoming a naturalized citizen, she would spend most of her formative years in St Louis, Missouri. After high school graduation she continued working at her family restaurant where she had worked since she was 11.

Young Adult:

At the age of 25 she enrolled at Florissant Valley Community College where she completed 3 years of course work before transferring to Maryville University. While at Maryville her studies focused on the fine arts which was her declared major, with psychology as her minor. Unfortunately, due to difficult circumstances in her life, she was unable to complete one class, photography. Ironically, it is her photography that has become the prominent feature here at Poofff.

Career Years: Modeling

10_DelciaColorComp_FrontIt wasn’t long after leaving school that she began a modeling career that would span some 15 years. Her first modeling job came at the age of 30. She worked through one of the area’s top modeling agencies, Delcia Agency, becoming one of their most regularly working models in St Louis metro area. Here is a link to a small sampling of her modeling work.

During  the first year of her modeling career LindaLee founded a group called Model Resource Group (MRG) which in large part provided aspiring young models with workshops focused on the realities of being a model. With MRG, LindaLee touched hundreds of lives, many of which went on to work as professional models. She continued to guide young models using MRG for over a decade. She would then create, A Coalition of Independent Models (ACIM), becoming the ‘agency’ of choice for an entire roster of St Louis models. LindaLee continued to lead ACIM until she decided to give up modeling for good.

The Present:

Today LindaLee can be found directing her creative energies to new heights.  This is not a job for her, this is a passion, as evidence by the thousands of Skells images she has already produced. She also enjoys making jewelry, another area in which she has proven to be prolific, producing piece after piece, after piece. Many of her creations are featured here at Poofff, with more to come. Soon we will be launching an eCommerce section where people can get a LindaLee creation of their own. Nearly every day, you can find her snapping photographs, painting with photoshop, or creating a new piece of jewelry. The many layers of her past have culminated in an intriguing person of non-stop energy and  creativity, I am excited and anxious to see what comes next.
